The historical Kursaal building of 1833 in Brückenau is the business card of the regimen and vacation city. It is a sight in architecture and interior design.
The classical hall construction with arcade walk was established on behalf of King Ludwig I., planned by Johann Gottfried Guttensohn (1792 - 1851). The solemn laying of the foundation stone was celebrated with 700 guests in 1827 on the birthday of the king, August 25th. The basilica-like building was inaugurated 1833.
Indoors the two-storied building is divided into the King Ludwig I. - Hall, the Lola Montez - Hall and the Royal Box in the upper floor. Finest stucco and arabesque painting, tender grotesquerie painting and Italian renaissance ornaments underline the royal ambiance of the building.
Today conventions, concert events and balls take place in the King Ludwig I. - Hall. Theatre performances in the smaller Lola Montez - Hall are an integral part in the calendar of events. Vernissages, conferences and concerts in a smaller circle find thier historical frame in the Royal Box.
